Introduction
After almost 12 years of usage, my beloved 15-inch MacBook Pro finally gave up. While my only option was to change the logic board at the cost of buying the same model secondhand, I decided to transfer its information to my M1 Max. This required getting enclosures for the SSDs so that I could use them externally. After researching and being happy with my rugged drives, I chose a Transcend Store Jet Enclosures pair.
Box
Looking nice for such a product, the packaging of these Transcend Store Jet Enclosures rivals my LaCie rugged drive boxes. It says all in one upgrade kit. And thus it contains everything you need. Inside each box, there’s the enclosure, accessories, a 7.5 to 9mm spacer, inner and outer rubber cases, a spacer, a screwdriver with three screws, and a USB cable. There’s also documentation and instructions. According to Transcend, these enclosures are shock-absorbing hence why I bought them.
Installation
The installation starts with attaching the spacer to your drive, connecting the SATA connector, and putting the whole thing into the inner wrapper. Next, you put that inside the enclosure and tighten the screws. Lastly, you place that into the outer rubber case.
First Impressions
While not spectacular, these Transcend Store Jet Enclosures are solid for their price and purpose. I am glad I opted for them, and I hope I won’t have any issues. But that’s just my opinion. Let me know what yours is, such as what enclosures you use in your workflow.
